The opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Environmental Impact Assessment Manager to join our Technology team within the Transformers Business Unit of Hitachi Energy. You will be responsible for evaluating and mitigating the environmental impacts of transformer technologies, ensuring compliance with sustainability regulations, and driving eco-friendly advancements. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in environmental assessment, lifecycle analysis, and regulatory frameworks, with a focus on integrating sustainability into technological innovations. You will play a key role in reducing environmental footprints while supporting the industry’s transition to greener solutions.
How you’ll make an impact
Act as the company’s subject matter expert on environmental impact assessments and standards, supporting internal teams in implementing best practices.
Represent the company in industry standards committees (e.g., IEC, ISO) to influence and stay updated on environmental impact and sustainability standards.
Ensure compliance with global environmental regulations in the transformers industry.
Lead comparative environmental impact assessments for product designs and manufacturing processes, guiding sustainable decision-making.
Oversee the execution of LCA, carbon footprint analysis, and EPD development, ensuring methodologies align with industry standards.
Drive initiatives to reduce carbon emissions, material consumption, and overall environmental footprint across product lifecycles.
Collaborate with technical teams and external consultants to refine models for sustainability assessments.
Integrate environmental performance data into product development, procurement, and manufacturing decision-making.
Your background
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Engineering, or a related field.
Proven experience of environmental impact assessment, sustainability, or regulatory affairs within the transformers, electrical equipment, or heavy manufacturing industry.
Expert knowledge of LCA methodologies, carbon footprint analysis, and EPD frameworks
Experience in industry standards committees (IEC, ISO, or equivalent) and regulatory engagement.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex environmental impact data.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience working across technical and non-technical teams.
Ability to work closely with large and complex remote teams and in a multi-country & -cultural environment.
Excellent project management skills with demonstrated capacity to take initiative, structure and prioritize work.
Strong written and oral communication skills, fluent in English
